But Louth took the extra bonus points by winning three rinks to the hosts’ two.

The best winning margin for Louth was the rink of Val Sherry, Betty Cuthbert, Mary Cave and Gill Leverton who won 22-15, while Tina Reeson’s rink won by four shots and Margaret Leggett’s rink scraped home by two.

* The Mixed B team did not fare so well in their county match at home to Scunthorpe, winning on just one rink.

The scores were close at one stage, but Scunthorpe ran away with the match at the end to win 119-96.

Louth’s winning rink did so in style as Rob Lamb, Ken Hasnip, Pam Renshaw and Joan Hill recorded a 30-18 victory.

Two home rinks lost by only three shots, but a heavy 37-15 defeat on another rink proved costly.

* The club’s representatives in the county ladies’ fours last 16 qualifiers at Boston failed to make it through to the finals.

Despite a valiant effort, the team of Wendy Blyth, Cheryl Hanslip, Rachael Stanley and Tina Reeson were beaten 22-16 by Sleaford.

* The top story from the club’s leagues was the end of the only unbeaten record across all leagues.

Vic and Wendy White lost for the first time, 13-12, against Martin Green and Sue Gurbutt in Division Three of the Friday Mixed Pairs.

The losing duo now only have a one-point lead over Malcolm Wade and Lorraine Evans who defeated G and B Clark 25-6.

Tony Willoughby and Sylvia Stainton clinched the Division Two title after thumping P. O’Mahony and J. Walker 33-12. They had trailed 12-9, but scored a full-house of eight shots and then won the remaining four ends including another eight on the last.

Second-placed Graham Wood and Eileen Rayner also recorded an early eight against P. Renshaw and stand-in partner M. Cheese before winning 23-9.
