The results make for an interesting competition with just two points now separating the top four.

Magpies came off worse and were knocked off their perch at the top when losing 18-9 in a tight game against a Yorkies trio of Paul Hayman, Ian Betram and Keith Greenhill. They finished with two fours which put a slightly unbalanced look to the score.

The Jays’ seven-match unbeaten run came to an end with a 13-9 defeat to Mudlarks which meant Yorkies took over top spot, but only briefly.

The Jays team of John Williams with Peter and Gill Fletcher had another close contest against In A Minute, but bagged three shots on the final end to win 14-13 to move to the top of the table for the first time.

Magpies got themselves into a flap against Busy Bs and were thankful to scrape a 14-14 draw. The stalemate put them level on points with The Jays, but with an inferior shots difference.

Yorkies could have regained number one spot, but slipped to third place, one point off the top two, after going down 14-10 to Mudlarks. It was Mudlarks’ fourth successive victory, making them the current in-form team.

Highgate Wanderers are in fourth after they earned a 10-10 draw with Dreamers thanks to claiming one shot on the final end.

Lighting still seek the spark to get themselves going and lost both of their games, firstly 13-3 to In A Minute, and then 23-7 to next-bottom Hornets who moved three points clear of the bottom rung.

* In Group B of the Australian Pairs League, John Williams and Joan Foster maintained their unblemished record with a simple 15-4 victory over Jane Scott and Lorraine Evans.

They hold a two-point advantage over Paul Hayman and Ian Bertram who enjoyed a comfortable 24-7 win against Fred and Jean Bradley.

In Group A, the top two duos weren’t in action which allowed Vic Ball and Mike Norton to move within two points after overturning a 6-1 deficit to beat Brian Paffey and Charles Dewar 23-7.
