The Louth rink of Jean Holdsworth, Pam Cowling, Carol Kelly and Carol Smith won 32-10, but sadly this margin was negated by one home rink winning by 23 shots.

The other success for Louth came from the rink of Sylvia Stainton, Joan Baker, Alice Ashwood and Liz Draper which won by one shot.

* On Sunday club members Allan Dent and Jeff McCue travel to Lincoln IBC for the area finals of the national men’s over 60s pairs competition against a pair from South Forest IBC from Mansfield.

If the Louth duo emerge victorious they qualify for the national finals at Nottingham IBC next month.

* In Division Two of the Tuesday Mixed Pairs League, Terry and Jenny Cornwall had a tough battle against John and Maureen Robinson but held out for a 15-14 win.

The result kept them at the top, one point ahead of the next four pairs who are separated only by shots difference.

Derek Blow and Liz Draper nipped into second spot with a 17-13 win against Graham Wood and Eileen Rayner who slipped to fourth, while John Williams and Bernice Culham moved to third after their 15-5 victory over John Readman and Pat Wolley.

Barry and Ros Toyn lie in fifth place after beating Garry Skill and Pauline Thornton 18-9.

* Australian Pairs Division Two leaders Noel and June Brougham were without a game and saw their advantage cut to one point as Barry Fox and Robin Barrow hung on to beat Brian and Bernice Culham 15-14.

Alan Houghton and Mally Hewson are three further points back after winning 14-8 against John Dawson and Nancy Robinson. They now sit in last place as Derek Tomlin and Jane Scott moved off the bottom with a 20-5 victory over Barry Jordan and Pat Morley.

* Wednesday/Thursday Morning Triples League leaders JCB slid to a surprise 16-12 defeat against second-bottom Pips.

But they retained a five-point advantage over Waltham who cruised to a 29-9 victory over Crackbarrels.

After their excellent win, Pips then slipped up themselves as they lost 13-11 to bottom team Webbos. On the last end Pips had been holding four shots until Webbos’ skip Rachael Stanley killed the end to ensure victory.
