Louth schoolgirl qualifies twice for national dressage championships

Esmee Alex (14) represented King Edward VI Grammar School at the National Schools KBIS Dressage Qualifier, vying for a place at the NSEA National Schools Championships at Addington Manor, in October.

With only two riders from each of the dressage classes going through, the top places were hotly contested.

Esmee took both her ponies Storm and Derha Dollar, and Dollar gained Esmee first place in her Novice 27 class and second in the Prelim 14.

This means she will now compete in two classes at the national championships, a great achievement against stiff competition and large classes.

Schools competing included neighbouring schools such as St Hugh’s as well as further afield including Sheffield High, Southwell Minster, Norwich High and Felstead.

Mathematics teacher Mr Smith was thanked for giving up his time to be the equestrian team manager, as were local company PCR Commercial Bodyworks who sponsor Esmee.
