The flat course starting close to and finished with a glory lap of Scunthorpe United FC’s stadium, Glanford Park, and followed much of the River Trent through the villages of Messingham, East Butterwick, Burringham, Althorpe and Gunness.

In contrast to the horrendous weather of previous years, temperatures in the high teens added to the challenge.

Roger Blake was first Mablethorpe runner back in 1hr 42min 23secs for 475th, followed by Debbie Jinks (1.57.54 - 1,042nd), Vivienne Martin (1.58.45 - 1,044th) and Andrea Mettam (2.08.02 - 1,282nd).

* A total of 118 runners turned out for the first of two Bolingbroke Breaker 10ks, hosted by Skegness and District Running Club.

The tough, hilly and multi-terrain 10k started and finished in the village of Old Bolingbroke, and many local clubs were well represented, including five from Mablethorpe RC.

Times: 29 Nigel Cross 46min 26secs, 62 Guy Willey 53.25, 74 Sharon Wheatley-Margarson 55.25, 83 Elaine Wilson 57.46, 91 Andrea Mettam 60.33.

The next Bolingbroke Breaker is scheduled for Wednesday, August 24.

* Mablethorpe RC’s husband and wife Carl and Lisa Musson took part in Mayhem in May, part of the Lunacy Run series.

Mayhem in May was held just outside Hatcliffe in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds and offered 10k of undulating terrain with hills, woodland, water, ropes, and climbs on all natural obstacles.

Carl completed the 10k obstacle course in 1hr 23min 14secs, while Lisa finished in 1.44.59.

Another Lunacy Run (The November Nutter) is scheduled to take place at the same location on Sunday, November 20. Entries via www.sportsystems.co.uk
