Keen track runner Rob returned to London to compete at the championships for the third time on Sunday, competing against some of the UK’s best amateur athletes.
He couldn’t reproduce last year’s gold medal performance, but took a bronze medal in the over 35s 3000m in a time of 9min 53sec.
* Mablethorpe RC juniors Ella Hawse and Archie Rainbow represented Lincolnshire at the CAU Inter County Championships on Saturday.
The event takes place annually at Cofton Park, in Birmingham, with the best eight runners from every county picked to race based on their County Championships performances.
Ella was on the reserve list, but was picked and despite a fall, picked herself up to complete the tough course, finishing in 301st.
Archie also fell after he was knocked over and trampled on in the start pen, but he brushed it off to finish 249th.
* A trio of Mablethorpe RC members travelled to Grantham for the popular Newton’s Fraction half-marathon.
The race has a fantastic start and finish with a lap of the South Kesteven Sports Stadium with three punishing hills to negotiate on route.
Andrea Mettam and Debbie Jinks made their debut at this event and rose to the challenge to be among the 432 finishers.
Roger Blake returned for the seventh year and finished 86th in 1hr 37min 58secs, while Debbie was 264th in 1.57.55 and Andrea was 361st in 2hr 10min 36secs.
The race was won by Adam Holland (Notfast RC) in 1.15.14, and first female finisher was Emily Foran (Sleaford Town Runners) in 1.26.10 (23rd overall).
* Janine Stones has been to many different locations to complete Parkruns, but last Saturday was a first-timer at the Doncaster version.
Of the 106 finishers, Janine was the second female, and 13th overall, in 21min 45secs.
* The club meets at Mablethorpe Athletics Club, on Sherwood Fields, at 6.30pm on Mondays and Thursdays. Anyone, regardless of age or ability, is welcome to run.
