Keen and dedicated, Sharon Margarson & Elaine Wilson were disappointed to learn that the 40th London Marathon would not go ahead as scheduled but relieved to learn later in the year that it could be done, albeit virtually.

So, they created their own 26.2 mile route around the rural roads of Mablethorpe/North Somercotes tracked by GPS. With a very small support bubble to supply hydration and encouragement as they completed their 17th marathon in 4h 52m 49s & 4h 52m 51s respectively.

Sharon and Elaine have never stopped training and were very happy with their solo run, a huge achievement considering the lack of atmosphere that would be experienced pounding the pavements of London.

Club Chairman Wayne Kew is a very keen cyclist and runner. Along with his friend Keith Appleby, they were up on the North Yorkshire Moors earlier in October for the VELO 29 Great Yorkshire Sportive.

This is a 113 mile endurance cycling event which was able to go ahead subject to regulations.

As you can imagine, this is a punishing undulating route starting finishing in York with an astonishing 7,333ft of elevation taking in some very spectacular scenery, covering among many other places: Strensall, Hovingham, Amotherby, Malton, Cropton Forest, Rosedale Abbey, Pickering, Barton Le Willows.

With an average speed of 15mph and a top speed of 43mph, Wayne completed this epic feat in 8h 22m 54s. Keith finished 2 minutes ahead in 8h 20m 49s.
