Slawson, of Eastcoast Motorsport, and Lincoln-based Ryan Connolly, of Race Performance, travelled to the North Wales circuit for the CSCC Open Series an the CSCC Tin Tops, and secured first in class in both events.
A brake pipe failure early in Friday’s testing session sparked a long search for parts by team member Josh Whyman who drove up from Market Rasen to meet them halfway at Stoke to deliver the much-needed parts.
By the time the pair had arrived back to the track and made repairs it was 2am, allowing just a few hours sleep before Saturday’s qualifying session.
Both drivers put in respectable lap times to put the car on P1 in their class and P18 on the grid.
Coming to the end of the first race, with just eight minutes to go, and sitting in P11 overall, marshals pulled Connolly off the track because a split in the exhaust system was causing too much noise.
Like the previous evening, the team were up until nearly 2am repairing the exhaust along with other minor issues and set-up changes.
Going into Sunday’s two qualifying sessions, the pair defied wet conditions to again place the car in P1 in class and P18 in both races.
Slawson was behind the wheel for the Open Series, and worked his way up through the pack. By the time he came in for a pit stop, he had taken the car up to P11.
Connolly was ready for his 20-minute stint and brought the car home to a P1 in class and 16th overall.
The Tin Tops Race had the Lincoln driver at the wheel to start and he battled his way through the field up to fourth when he made his pitstop.
After a 20-second driver change, Slawson took over and came back into the pack in sixth.
Some fantastic driving and the fast pitstop allowed the Market Rasen racer to bring the car over the line in eighth overall and first in class.
