Eleven-year-old Joe successfully beat a lot of opponents in preliminary rounds to reach the semi-finals of the middleweight division.

Club instructor and sixth degree black-belt Jill Pearce said: “This was Joe’s first competition and he did exceedingly well. It was great to see the smile on his face when he was awarded the trophy, and his sister and parents were there to give him a lot of support.”

There was success also for Hayden Marshall who trains at both Sleaford and Corby Glen. He won gold in the men’s blue belt patterns and silver in sparring, while Charlotte Lee teamed up with two other girls and won bronze in the girls’ lightweight tag-team sparring.

Club members are all training hard for the TAGB English Championships to be held at Worcester Arena next month.
