In heat one Mickie came second behind Sam McGurk, coming second to Harry McGurk in race two.

His first win of the day came in heat three as the frost came out of the track.

A fall in heat four saw Mickie excluded as the cause of the race stoppage. Heat five was similar and, after a good start which saw him take the lead, Mickie had another slide, but managed to pick the bike up and race to the flag to pick up second place.

After a great start to the B final, Mickie won his place in the A final, up against main rivals Harry McGurk, Jordan Palin and Sam McGurk.

Jordan claimed first with Harry second, Mickie third and Sam fourth.
