June’s Historic Sports Car Club’s Wolds Trophy weekend has quickly established itself as a highlight of the season at Cadwell Park since its inception five years ago.

Taking place on June 18-19, the event is set to feature a wide range of machinery from the 1950s to 80s, with a particular focus on Formula 3, the category that has provided a training ground for Grand Prix heroes from Sir Stirling Moss to Lewis Hamilton.

The British Championship raced at Cadwell Park until 1983, when even the great Ayrton Senna was caught out by the circuit’s fearsome Mountain section.

In addition to races for F3 machinery and other historic single-seaters, the Wolds Trophy will also showcase classic GTs and saloon cars.

The unaltered sweeps and picturesque vistas of Cadwell Park lend themselves perfectly to the evocative sight and sound of vehicles that were once a familiar feature of the nation’s roads.

Another halcyon age will be celebrated on Sunday, July 24, when the Vintage Sports Car Club’s festival will be recalling the early days of motor racing, from the Edwardian period to the inter-war years and beyond.

The VSCC’s Shuttleworth and Nuffield Trophy races will present a wide variety of antiques and curiosities on the track, including the ever-popular Morgan three-wheelers and veterans of Brooklands, Le Mans and the Mille Miglia classics.

The Vintage Sports Car Festival will also feature more off-track content in 2016, with displays of historic cars, and nostalgic attractions set to bring a period feel to the event. Details of these will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Tickets to both events are now available in advance from £10, with free entry for under-13s.
