Bristow gets back on track after losing time in crash

High water levels, waterlogged ground, slippery rocks and deep ruts changed the course every lap.

That, of course, meant that competitors had to be constantly on top of their game in what many described as the toughest-ever course at Tong, Yorkshire.

Attracting record spectators with a mile of traffic to get into the event and all extreme sections filled with onlookers, the atmosphere was electric for the event.

Bristow, the only female competitor up for this year’s challenge, took her 250cc 4stroke Sherco to a creditable 18th in the experts class after a big crash on the notorious waterfall section lost her a few places on the final lap.

The Alford rider said: “I’ve enjoyed my day, events like this are great for experience, fitness and perfect preparation for further extreme events in the future.

“These races are fast and tough but I feel they are making me stronger. I can only work to improve for the next round which I’ve been told is more technical and will suit my riding style.

“I love the atmosphere at these extreme events and thank everyone for cheering me on and pointing out the lines”

Bristow will now travel to Spain for some intense winter training.
