Crowe aims to fly at the North West 2000 event

Market Rasen racer Phil Crowe is fully prepared and raring to go in this year's Vauxhall International North West 200 road races after a race against time to have his hand injury heal sufficiently for him to take part in the high-profile event.

Crowe is to contest the Superbike classes on his BMW, the Supersport on the Suzuki and the Superstock event on a stock BMW machine.

After having surgery on his damaged hand just a few weeks ago Crowe tested his fitness at the Thundersport GB races at Snetterton last week and said: “I managed to handle the bike just fine.

“The hand is a little weak but it’s improving every day and it should be fine once we have completed the practice sessions.

“My aim is to finish my races within the top 10 as last year I was not far away from that in the Superstock race.

“I have to thank my sponsors, HandTrans Haulage, Sheffield Pack, Lee Jackson Air Conditioning, Fleetwood Grab Services and John Chapman for their support again this year, without them I would not be able to compete here.”

Practice takes place Tuesday and Thursday 9-15am-3pm with racing on Thursday evening 5pm-9pm and the main races on Saturday 9.30am-7pm.

There is live streaming of all practice and races via the BBC Northern Ireland Sports website.
