MOTORCYCLING: Cranwell off-road ace Jack wins on sand and grass

Jack commented: “I had an awesome day at Mablethorpe, it was my first time on the new 250cc bike and it felt amazing. I managed to win all my races, however the track was very bad, the worse I have ever known it to be.

“But the poor conditions helped as I need to be able to race in all weathers and track conditions.”

Last weekend, Jack travelled to Kent to race in the Youth Grass Track races for his first attempt on that surface. He settled well to the track in practice and went on to win all of his races including the handicap race where he started last, one lap behind the first starter. He managed to catch and pass the rest of the field to take the chequered flag for the victory.

He said: “I had a fantastic time in Kent. I had never been to a grass track meeting before and really enjoyed it.

“Despite struggling with a broken gear lever in two of the races, I was able to battle on and was over the moon to win all my races.”

Jack, who is a St George’s Academy student, returns to Mablethorpe shortly for the second round of the Sand Racing championship and is hoping for a larger field of riders to pit his skills against.

The 13-year-old rider is anxiously awaiting the itinerary for his trip to Spain next month for this year’s five day training session with MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez.

Last October, Jack was selected as one of only two UK riders to train with Marquez for five days, all expenses paid, and has been invited to return again this year.
