MOTORCYCLING: East Kirkby's Philp aiming for more points

As the season reaches the half way stage, East Kirkby racer Tommy Philp and DraperRacing team-mate Aaron Clarke head south to Thruxton for the next round of the British Supersport and Superstock championships at the weekend, where they will be seeking some strong results at the fast and bumpy Hampshire circuit.

Last time out, both riders brought points back to the team and they will be encouraged by this to score well again this weekend.

Philp has two races at Thruxton in the British Supersport class, the short sprint race on Saturday followed by the feature race on Sunday, so he has two bites of the cherry to try to get up into the points. Clarke will be encouraged by his fine performance at Snetterton in the Superstock 600 class and will be hoping to add to his points tally on Sunday.

Philp has a free practice at 9.35am on Friday followed by a second at 1.50pm. Qualifying is at 11am on Saturday and that secures the grid for the start of the 12-lap sprint race at 3.25pm. There is a short warm-up at 11.10am on Sunday to make final preparations for the 18-lap feature race which is scheduled for 3.40pm.
