MOTORCYCLING: Lintin cock-a-hoop at Cock O' the North

Fresh from his victory at the Isle of Man TT races in the Lightweight race, Bardney rider Ivan Lintin recorded two wins and five second places in his races at the prestigious annual Cock O'the North meeting, held at Oliver's Mount, Scarborough, just five days after he returned to the mainland.

On the Saturday, he took the runner-up spot in the Solo A first leg followed by second place once again in the first leg of the Senior race. But in his last race on Saturday, he recorded a commanding victory in the first leg of the Super Lightweight class, by a margin of 29 seconds over James Cowton. He also posted the best lap of the race with a 1m 61.279s at an average speed of 78.613mph.

Sunday’s races went much the same way for the Lincolnshire racer when he took second in the second leg of the Solo Open A race, and second again in the second leg of the Senior race.

Again he streaked away to take the win in the second leg of the Super Lightweight class, this time he was 15.5 seconds ahead of Cowton, again setting the fastest lap of the race with a 1m 51.521s lap – 78.613mph.

In the feature race, the Cock O’ the North eventk Ivan was once again beaten to second place behind Dean Harrison.

Ivan said: “We had a good weekend with the Supertwin and the big bike, but the Supersport machine broke during the warm-up lap, and being so close to the TT there was not enough time to make repairs.”
