Motorcycling: Market Rasen twins' misfortune at Silverstone

Market Rasen twins Tim and Tom Neave suffered an unfortunate start to the season as neither completed the opening round of the 2016 National Superstock 600 championship at Silverstone on Sunday.

The cold and showery weather played its part in qualifying, making the track slippery, but the twins managed to make it through the session unscathed with Tim qualifying for a start from the seventh row and Tom one row further back.

But as the race got under way it was clear all was not well with Tom’s bike, and after just one lap he was forced to retire at Becketts with a mechanical issue.

Tim was doing well, moving through the field from 19th to 16th on lap four of 10, but it all went wrong on lap four when he crashed out at Stowe Corner, his race over.

Luckily he was unhurt and both riders and bikes will be raring to go in round two at Oulton Park over the May Day bank holiday weekend.
