MOTORCYCLING: Sleaford bike-loving Lindsey's racing stalled by financial burden

Sleaford biker Lindsey Fairfield's love of motorcycles stretches back many years but her passion for racing truly became an addiction in 2013 when she competed for the first time on a borrowed Kawasaki ZX10. Lindsey amazed many with her ability on a bike and her determination to improve and be competitive in this male dominated sport. Financial restraints were the only reason Lindsey did not complete a full season which again held her back in 2014 with only a couple of guest appearances.

This year has seen 36-year-old Lindsey return to competition on her own Ducati 848 with the view of securing the final few signatures to gain her National licence. Her goal is to realise her dream of competing at the Isle Of Man TT road races.

She said: “My goal is to road race. I’d really like to compete at the IoM one day, the Manx would be an amazing achievement. I just want to race bikes, I know I’m not going to set the world on fire but for me it’s about enjoying it and have fun.

“For me, nothing makes you feel the way a bike does, the freedom, the excitement and the adrenalin.”

However, due to mechanical issues with her Ducati race bike, it is uncertain if Lindsey will be able to compete at her local track, Cadwell Park, at the end of the month for round seven of the BEMSEE series.

Lindsey is a busy young woman, currently employed part-time whilst attending a three year full time university course to gain her degree in nursing. This has placed a great financial burden on her and limited her racing, so the hunt is on to secure sponsorship to help fulfil her dream.

The team has already secured the services of a top race technician and some product sponsors, but any additional funding to help her complete her journey would be greatly received.
