With Phil Keen sharing the Balfe Motorsport McLaren 650S as usual, the duo are currently lying third in the championship as they head for final rounds in Spain, 11 points off second place and 40 off the championship lead.

“Our focus has got to be for second place in the championship. We have led it then dropped to third, but with the two pros Biagi and Crestani leading in their Lamborghini, just beating the semi works BMWs would be an achievment for us,” said Balfe.

With eyes on a podium in both races, it helps that both drivers are familiar with the circuit.

“We haven’t sat in the car since Monza though, but the Garage 59 Team McLarens have tested there and could be a help to us.

“We have got a private test on Thursday before official testing and qualifying, so we won’t have any excuse. But we have to be track for 1pm and don’t arrive in Spain until 10.30am,” Balfe added.

“Third is no good to us, it will take a miracle for us to win the championship now, but we will be going for it for sure,” Balfe concluded.
