New British Swimming role for Mel

Mel Marshall has been appointed British Swimming's National Lead Coach in Loughborough, following a restructure to the organisation.

This will be something of a homecoming for Marshall, who represented Loughborough University during her distinguished career in the pool.

The Wrangle swimmer represented Great Britain at Olympic Games in both Athens and Beijing.

But it was in the Commonwealth Games where she really made her mark, becoming the most decorated female athlete at a single Commonwealth Games when she scooped six medals at Melbourne 2006.

But since turning to coaching, Marshall has proven equally as formidable.

She has been the driving force behind City of Derby’s Adam Peaty, an Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth champion.

As part of her now position, Marshall will coach and monitor her own group as well as take a leadership role for the centre and for wider World Class Swimming Programme activity.
