New Thai lessons at Worksop Dojo

DOJO Martial Arts Centre in Worksop is now offering lessons in Muay Thai kickboxing.

The Dojo, established 22 years ago, has churned out British and World champions in karate and freestyle kickboxing, and represented England in the Disney Martial Arts Festival in 2009, when they won nine gold medals, four silvers and two bronze medals.

Principal coach Neil Butkeraitis decided to change the direction of the club four years ago.

He told the Guardian: “I decided to travel to the Fairtex Muay Thai gym in Thailand with coaches John Drabble and Phillip Darke.”

“It’s world renowned for being the best Muay Thai gym in existence, and it turns out dozens of world class champions, like Yodsanklai.”

“For the past four years we’ve been travelling to Thailand and training with the best trainers in the business.”

Surge Johal from the Nottingham Gladiators Gym has also decided to join the newly formed Worksop Tiger Muay Thai group at The Dojo as a coach.

Butkeraitis added: “Surge is a familiar face on the UK Muay Thai scene, training various British and European Champions.”

Johal will be coaching a beginners Muay Thai group every Wednesday at 8pm.
