Everything coming up roses
The photo shows Samuel Lamb standing proudly among his rose beds at his Park Street allotment.
It was brought in to us by his son, also called Samuel.
Mr Lamb junior, 83, of Celtic Village, Worksop, didn’t know the date the photo was taken, but said it was probably nearly 80 years ago.

“The picture was in Middletons for a while advertising their roses. I was about four or five then.”
“Then my mother had it hung on the wall at home.”
“I used to go to the allotment every day when I wasn’t in school. On Sunday afternoons there would be seven or eight men all talking and smoking.”
Mr Lamb used to work at Worksop Galvanising.
