Vintage vehicles of all shapes and size will be heading to the Trolleybus Museum at

Sandtoft on Sunday (18th October), to take part in the annual Isle of Axholme Running Day

and Rally. This event will see over 50 classic cars, lorries and buses gathering at the museum

to be displayed alongside the world’s largest collection of preserved trolleybuses. Many of

the vehicles attending will travel to the museum in procession from the South Yorkshire Air

Museum and through the town centre, leaving at 11:15.

Amongst the visiting vehicles this year there will also be a taste of the future in the

shape of the New Routemaster from London, as well as modern vehicles from local

Stagecoach and First bus depots.

A popular part of this event also sees a number of free vintage bus services

operating around the Isle linking the villages of Epworth, Haxey and Westwoodside with the

museum. These services give everyone the chance to experience the nostalgia and also

include shuttle services from Doncaster Interchange (Stand C6) at 11:30 & 12:00.

The museum will be open from 11:00 to 17:00 on the day and as well as the displays

of visiting vehicles, visitors can also enjoy free trolleybus rides and a transport related

market. The museums usual attractions are also open including children’s play areas both

inside and out, a well stocked gift shop and ever popular café.
