Novice races part of National Bike Week

As part of National Bike Week Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club held an 8.2 mile novice race for non racing cyclists to experience the thrill of a cycle race on 20th June.

Four riders took part in the Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club Non Racing Members Trophy event on the same course.

The events started on Laughton Lane Morton and progressed through Laughton Woods turning left onto Carr Lane to Wildsworth.

Here a left turn took the riders along side the River Trent, turning left in East Stockwith to the finish at the start on Laughton Lane.

After the race there was a presentation of awards and a social get together at The Ship Inn at Morton.

Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club would like to thank the Ship Inn for their hospitality, and club members who marshalled the event.

RESULTS

Novice Race: 1st Julian Hesp 24 minutes 45 seconds (road bike) Winner Fastest Rider, Church Street Cycles Trophy; 2nd Alex Watson 25 minutes 11 seconds (road bike); 3rd Declan Rainsforth (14) 29 minutes 11 seconds (road bike) Fastest Juvenile; 4th Sally Shaw 31 minutes 18 seconds (road bike) Fastest Lady.

Non Racing Members Trophy: 1st Daniel Nicholson 27 minutes 24 seconds; 2nd Joe Smith 31 minutes 13 seconds; 3rd Colin Smith 32 minutes 29 seconds; 4th Mark Clark 35 minutes 34 seconds.

The Tuesday evening race for Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club was a choice of 15 and 8 mile time trials.

Fifteen miles: 1st Simon Hobday 38 minutes 54 seconds; 2nd Joe Noble 40 minutes 48 seconds (juvenile); 3rd Matt Hindmarsh 41 minutes 19 seconds; 4th Trevor Halstead 43 minutes 33 seconds.

Private Trials (Non Club Members): Ian Ferraby 38 minutes 05 seconds Trent Valley Road Club

Eight miles: 1st Joe Nash 22 minutes 35 seconds; 2nd Liam Hindmarsh 23 minutes 32 seconds (juvenile); 3rd Andy Clarke 26 minutes 04 seconds.

On Sunday 1st July the club will hold the Championship 50 mile time trial, and on the same day there will be an afternoon ride using the Gainsborough Lincolnshire Cycle Route (30 miles).

Meet at Roseway, Gainsborough at 1.30pm and carry food.

The Championship 25 mile time trial is on Wednesday 4th July, statrting on Laughton Lane, meet 6.45pm.
