Scott Dixon, who has trained more than 100 winners and enjoyed success at racecourses across the country, is hosting an open morning at his yard in Babworth, near Retford in north Nottinghamshire.

One of the youngest trainers in the country, at 28, Dixon will be telling visitors about the exciting opportunities for prospective racehorse owners in 2016.

With ownership now available from as little as £150, plus VAT, joining a syndicate at Haygarth House Stud and experiencing the thrill of watching your own horse race has never been more affordable. In fact, it has the makings of an ideal Christmas present.

The open morning, supported by the stable sponsor, Socialites, starts at 10.30 am and will be compered by At The Races television presenter and racing pundit Simon Mapletoft.

There will be a parade of yearling colts and fillies, purchased from the bloodstock sales at Doncaster and Newmarket this autumn, plus yearlings bred at the stud itself.

Horses from the Doncaster Racing Club, in which membership costs just £500, plus VAT, for 12 months, will be on show for visitors. Members have basked in the glory of two-time winner Misu Moneypenny during 2015

Members of the stable’s syndicates will also be available to talk about the experience of racehorse ownership.

Dixon said: “2015 has been another year of great progress at Scott Dixon Racing, and we have made some wonderful purchases at the bloodstock sales. We will still stay busy racing on the all-weather tracks over the winter months, but preparations are well under way for the 2016 Flat racing season.

“With syndicates and ownership customer care being our forte, we have extensive experience of and dedication to racehorse ownership and offer a variety of opportunities, no matter the size of your budget. There has really never been a better time to get involved and we make sure that all of Haygarth House’s racehorse owners have tremendous fun.”

The stud and racing yard also offer five-star breakfasts in the adjacent country house, with tours of the stables and trips on to the gallops -- again another excellent Christmas gift.
