Andy Lewis wins Aegir time trial race

Andy Lewis was victorious in Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club's latest 10 mile time trial.

The Viking Velo rider clocked 24 mins 06 seconds to defeat home rider Andrew Janney (25 min 25 seconds) and Luke Dixon (26 mins 06 seconds).

The course was out through Laughton woods then along Carr Lane to Wildsworth.

Riders then returned alongside the River Trent, passing through East Stockwith & Walkerith arriving at Morton to head along Laughton Lane to finish at the East Stockwith turning.

Other results were: 4th David Lewin (Juvenile), 26 minutes 30 seconds, Viking Velo; 5th Sam Davies, 27 minutes 42 seconds; 6th Dan Davies (Juvenile), 28 minutes 59 seconds; 7th Gareth Joseph, 29 minutes 43 seconds 53; 8th Stephen Cockerham, 29 minutes 44 seconds, Trent Valley Road Club.

Elsewhere, the club’s leisure cyclists went on a 23 mile ride into Nottinghamshire.

Departing Gainsborough Town Centre the riders headed along the riverside cycle route crossing the River Trent into Nottinghamshire. Arriving in Beckingham the ride progressed through Saundby, Sturton le Steeple, South & North Wheatley.

Making the climb of Haughgate Hill the riders were rewarded with splendid views, it was then downhill to Clayworth passing the Chesterfield Canal.

The ride paused at the market cross in Gringley on the Hill before riding to Walkeringham. The ride progressed to Beckingham and homewards along the Trentside cycle path.
