Away victory enhances Boston bowlers' title hopes

In the county leagues, Boston Indoor Bowling Club’s Mens A team left league leaders Stamford with a 16-2 win.

With three home fixture left, Boston could still clinch the title.

Both the Mens over 60s A and B teams had comprehensive victories.The B team are in the running for the Division Two title.

It was business as usual for Carlton Road in Division One of the Boston Indoor Bowls League, the leaders winning 6-0 against Punchbowlers.

Eastenders beat Parthians 6-0 to remain second.

Holland Fen beat Invaders in a tight match between third and fourth. Jim Gott, Eric Dilot and Danny Stanton and Richard Vinter, Brian Boucher and Barry Wilson were victorious.

IBC beat A40 5-1. Janet Vinter, Pauline Richardson and Arnold Bennett held Jeff Powell, Richard White and Peter Stringfellow as Steve Shaw, Richard Toy and Tony Powell won comfortably.

Breakaways beat fellow strugglers Boston Park 6-0. Carol Dowse, Ann Jackson and Derek Butwright and Lynn Limb, Jan Currie and Lorraine Stevens gained the rink wins to move off the bottom.

Red 5 gained a valuable 4-2 victory over Jolly Farmers, Colin Price, Yvonne Smith and Ian Smith claiming the aggregate against Derek Green, Joe Moore and Dick Allen. Bill Exton, Rita Epton and Sue Hoyles just got the win 15-14 for the Farmers; two points.

In Division Two, Strollers head the table after a 3-3 draw with Patriarchs; Nigel Kenworthy, Ken Manning and Alan Everitt winning 14-11 for Strollers and Pam Rate, S. Coliingwood and Mick Rate replying 20-17.

Royal Mail remain second but were beaten 4-2 by Dynamics. Graham Wilkinson, Bill Beal and Don Williams got the aggregate points whilst Keith and Joan Sharp with Jill Smith claimed the Mail’s two points.

Poachers got a 5-1 victory over Cosmos as R Thompson’s rink and Brain Sansam’s rink drewing but Bob Tingey, Sandy Tingey and Grace Bristow claimed the win.

Auto’s had a 4-2 victory over Central and Nomads remain in the hunt for promotion following a big 6-0 victory over The Burtons. Skips Barry Beagles and Derek Smith won two tight games.

Title-chasing Division Three Pilgrims were on a bye week while Vikings had a 4-2 victory over Saxons. Tracey Hodgson, Wendy King and M. Wells won 17–16 for Saxons’ points.

John Stray’s rink cleared the aggregate points for Vikings with a 19-13 win.

Amateurs had a 4-2 win over Fairways, Mick Greet’s rink winning 25-7 with Anita Hall, Pauline Atkin and Pam responding for Fairways.

Vectors had to settle for two points against Bias, M. Robinson, J. Carr and J. Melless winning the aggregate and E. Blissett, G. Sawer and B. Sansam responding.

Hotspurs beat Shipmates 4-2, Petra Wood, Brian Fairweather and Simon Sperring claiming the aggregate points whilst Mike Long, Richard Sharp and Dave Greenhough claimed the two points for Shipmates.

U3 beat Phantoms 6-0.
