Bowlers, who complied with the ongoing Government and Bowls England guidance, used seve rinks with one rink left vacant at all times between those rinks being played on.

And it was Peter Cawthorne won the final to take the Charles Lundy Trophy after he had comfortable wins in round one and the quarter final.

He had to show his fight in the semi-final when he came back from 7-2 down against Roger Platts.

The penultimate end virtually decided the result with Roger badly dropping four shots for Peter to win by four shots.

In the final, last year’s winner John Foster raced into a 6-0 lead, but Peter again rallied to take all but one of the remaining shots to win by seven shots.

Foster had earlier beaten Ken Byfleet in the other semi-final by four shots in a tight match.

The full results were:

Round 1 – Bob Brindle beat Peter Ness by 5 shots & Peter Cawthorne beat Brian Burton by 19 shots.

Quarter Finals – John Foster beat Carole Booth by 3 shots, Peter Cawthorne beat Bob Brindle by 13 shots, Roger Platts beat Michael Taylor by 2 shots & Ken Byfleet beat Tony Whitlam by 4 shots.
