Burton takes time trial win

Phil Burton won Gainsborough’s Aegir Cycling Club five mile time trial by 13 seconds.

He clocked 12 minutes 8 seconds to beat second-placed Andy Lewin (12 minutes 21 seconds), followed by Andrew Janney (12 minutes 26 seconds), David Lewin (13 minutes 37 seconds) and Stephen Cockerham (13 minutes 50 seconds).

Starting on Carr Lane the riders preceded towards East Stockwith along Carr Lane

Then cours then went through East Stockwith and Walkerith heading to Morton. It was then a sprint along Laughton Lane to finish at the junction with Carr Lane.

The time trial included the novice race for cyclists to sample a time trial.A light west wind made the start along Carr lane hard. After East Stockwith the wind helped riders up their speed for the finishing section.

Charlie Thorpe clocked 14 minutes 8 seconds to take the novice race.

On Sunday Gainsborough Aegir Cycling club held their final set of Reliability rides for the season, the cyclists had a choice of distances ranging from 20 miles through to 100 miles. Cycling conditions were hard with a strong west wind cycling conditions were good.

The Jack Doncaster Trophy Race 15 mile Time Trial takes place on August 12, with riders asked to meet at Laughton Lane at 6.15pm. The first rider heads off at 6.30pm.
