Gainsborough Tennis Club hold first tournamant since lockdown

Gainsborough Tennis Club were able to stage their first tennis tournament of the year.

Postponed from July because of Covid restrictions, the Mike Pickles Tournament had 28 entrants (14 male/14 female) .

Winner of the Mike Pickles Cup was George Whitley from Saxilby Tennis Club.

The leading ladies played for the Barry Hodgson Cup, with the winners announced as Maureen Thompson and Jayne Horner, from Gainsborough tennis club, who tied on the same number of points.

The Barry Hodgson cup was donated to the club by former Gainsborough Tennis player - Barry Hodgson, who regularly played league tennis past the age of 80.

Off the courts, the club has seen a surge in membership since lockdown.
