Evie, who is only seven years old, competed in her new category of under-nine females, which pitched her against rivals who were two years older than her.

However, despite a competitive field of international athletes, she produced a fantastic result by becoming the champion and receiving a gold medal.

The success was just reward for all the hard work and training Evie has been putting in, particularly over the Christmas period.

Evie is a member of Boston Taekwondo Club, whose spokesman Simon Newby said: “We are so proud of all Evie has achieved, and look forward to the coming months and the competitions she will be attending.”
