Holroyd secures first top division win while it's back-to-back promotions for Sharman in Forbes Road COVID league

Helen Holroyd made her debut in the Forbes Road Bowls Club COVID Singles league’s top division.

Helen has climbed her way to the top in the ladder league system and she got off to a winning start in the top division as she beat Dave Toynton 18-14.

Dave maintained his top flight statuts at the expense of Merv Pack, winning 19-12 despite Merv being the first player in the club to beat Helen, 20-16.

John Thorogood (23-10) and Pete Sharman (28-11) both beat janet Loughran in the Blue group to set up a winner takes all match for promotion to the top

group.

Pete won 23-12 for consecutive promotions to move into the top group for the first time.

The Orange group saw Ray Loughran finishing on two points and a -8 aggregate, leaving Trevor Dunnington and Tony Hall to fight out who would move up.

Tony beat Trevor 21-16, but it was Trevor who secured promotion.

The Red group saw John Mitchell beat Syd Oldfield and Graham Taylor for promotion.

Bill Yuill moved up from the Purple group after beating Michael Gooderson (25-11) and Ted Bloodworth (19-14).

Tom Carter, the youngsest member of the Forbes Road club, made his first appearance in the Brown group.

However, Gordon Neal (32-7) and Harry Maddison (34-6) were too strong.
