In-form Rasen see off visitors Southwell
Market Rasen & Louth were again in fine form as they overcame Southwell 59-8 at Willingham Road on Saturday.
It soon became apparent that Southwell were without some of their regular first team players due to injury and Rasen were in the driving seat from the outset.

Good ball retention and quick recycling gave Spen Holvey the chance to bound towards the Southwell line with a two-man overlap, an offload to wing Harry Lightfoot who gave Rasen their first points after five minutes played.
An infringement by Southwell then gave Rasen a penalty on the Southwell 5m line. A pick and drive saw Ben Young power over for Rasen;s 2nd.
A jinking run by full-back George Lee Erasmus then saw him produce a trademark touchdown under the crossbar, although second row Aiden Appleyard was then sin binned for ten minutes and Southwell kicked the penalty to get three points on the scoresheet.
Another series of phases then saw Holvey with only one defender to beat, but decided to offload to supporting flanker George Grant who ran in for Rasen’s bonus point try and a 28-3 half-time lead.
Southwell started the second half strongly but accurate passing to captain Holvey sent him down the wing around defenders to score for Rasen.
Another pacy run from wing Liam Dufton ended with another Rasen score after he kicked the ball over the defence and won the foot race to the line to pounce on the loose ball.
Rasen were soon back in the Southwell half and a line-out on the 22 was gathered by the Rasen forwards who drove almost over the Southwell line but a quick offload to Erasmus sent him over for another try, the same player completing his second hat-trick in successive weeks after good work by Dufton and Lightfoot.
Southwell responded with a try of their own, but Chris Everton went over late on to seal the win after Young had broken numerous tackles.
This weekend Market Rasen & Louth go to Lincoln for what is always a tasty fixture.
