Whilst at first play was restricted to a modified and socially distanced version of the game, full court play has now been permitted from September 1.

This means that competitive play in the club’s internal leagues can now restart on October 1, while the club has also wasted no time in looking to restart its extensive coaching and development programmes.

Junior coaching sessions were the first to recommence, with more than 25 future stars in regular attendance at the twice weekly sessions put on by the club over the school summer holidays.

These sessions were split into smaller groups, which as well as ensuring compliance with COVID-19 guidelines, meant that all participants were able to enjoy a great deal of individual support from Jacky Parsons and Pete Andrews, the club’s coaching team.

These sessions proved as popular as ever with all children delighted to be able to renew friendships and get back on court.

With the focus on technical work, players are sure to reap the benefits now that competitive play is also permitted again.

With schools now back, these sessions will continue on Saturday mornings for ages eight-16.

The club is now also restarting its ladies only and beginners group classes, on Tuesday and Thursday nights respectively.

Anyone looking to try the game is welcome at any of these sessions, with no membership required for the first few taster sessions.

More details can be found by contacting the club on [email protected], or by telephone on 01205 839475.
