National showjump title for Vernon
Skegness’ Ava Vernon fought off 45 other challengers to take the National 1.30m Open Championship title at the NAF Five Star British Showjumping National Championships at Bolesworth.
On board Here Am I B, an eight-year-old bay gelding owned by Dean Vernon, Ava headed the nine horse jump off when she delivered a speedy double clear in 37.72 seconds.
Seventeen-year-old Ava took victory by the narrowest of margins over second placed Angie Thompson from Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire.
Angie secured a double clear in 37.73 seconds with Bayard IV, a 14 year-old bay gelding owned by Melanie Davies.
