Whilst the number of entrants was again disappointing, the Covid-19 situation has played a big part in the number of club members wishing to play at the moment.

It was another good day for Peter Cawthorne who had last month won the Club Singles.

He was paired with the relatively inexperienced Bob Brindle who led exceptionally well, making a very good pairing, and they triumphed over Carole Booth & Peter Ness in the final.

Bob & Peter won their firstt round match and final comfortably, but were tested in the semi - final by Ken Byfleet & Michael Taylor.

The complete results were: 1st round – Bob & Peter beat John Foster & Roger Platts by 8 shots, Geoff Proudley & Andy Wainwright beat Brian Burton & Roy Clegg by 4 shots.

Semi Final – Bob & Peter beat Ken Byfleet & Michael Taylor by 3 shots, Carole Booth & Peter Ness beat Geoff Proudley & Andy Wainwright by 6 shots.

Final – Bob & Peter Cawthorne beat Carole & Peter Ness by 16 shots. The picture shows Peter (left) and Bob with the Mick Pilkington Memorial Trophy, and our thanks go again to the injured Bill Bryan for running the event.

Another home and away friendly match has been arranged, this time against Ordsall with three pairs from each club playing at the same time at each venue to enable safe distancing.

Beckingham also intend to arrange further friendly matches into September.
