Belles Sapphires took on Flinders Flyers, the Sapphires playing a strong game asserting themselves on court and taking the lead in the first three quarters.

Going into the last quarter, Sapphires looked like being the victors - but Flinders Flyers were determined to put a stop to that as they took advantage of any errors Sapphires made to their advantage and with strong clean passes they were able to get that ball into the shooting circle and score those goals until they had taken the lead.

The final whistle came a couple of minutes too soon for Sapphires who were defeated by one goal.

Belles Diamonds took on Bullettes Raiders on a very cold court.

Both teams came out hard, with some excellent netball.

Belles’ scorer goal scorer and goal attacker were finding each other well but being kept out by the Bullettes’ tough defensive partnership.

At the other end, Bullettes’ shooting was on top form and was fiercely challenged by the Belles defenders, with the first quarter ending tied at 7-7.

Belles got into their flow in the second and third, some unforced errors giving them an advantage.

Centre court was a cold place to be, and a number of tumbles took their toll on both teams, leaving Bullettes looking rattled.

At the final whistle all players were a little warmer and Belles diamond had won the game.

Belles Rubies took to the slightly warmer inside court to play against the Spalding-based Tulips blue.

Rubies knew it was going to be a tough game against the team that were currently sitting pretty at the top of the league, but with smiles on their faces and the promise of sweets at each quarter, rubies took up their positions ready for that whistle.

The start of the first quarter saw a pretty even match with both teams going goal for goal but it wasn’t long before Tulips were able to draw away to take the lead, which they never looked like relinquishing throughout the game resulting in a 13-goal win for them.

Rubies, still smiling, left the court knowing they had played a good game and will be training hard ready for the rematch.
