Personal best times for Aegir cyclists

One lap of the course, starting and ending at the top of Thonock Hill, accounted for nine miles.

On the 18-mile course Jordan Skelly finished first in 47.03.

Results: 1st Jordan Skelly 47 minutes 03 seconds, 2nd Julian Hesp 48 minutes 06 seconds, 3rd Carl Peace 50 minutes 09 seconds, 4th Joe Noble 50 minutes 27 seconds (Juvenile), 5th Matt Hindmarsh 50 minutes 52 seconds, 6th Trevor Halstead 56 minutes 40 seconds.

9 mile course: Liam Hindmarsh 25 minutes 15 seconds (Juvenile).

Private Trials (Non Club Members): 1st Andy Lewin 45 minutes 36 seconds Trent Valley Road Club, 2nd Richard Slack 55 minutes 08 seconds, 3rd Steve Brown 62 minutes 03 seconds (Trike) Scunthorpe Road Club.

On Tuesday 24th of July Liam Hindmarsh, 13-years-old, competed in the Scunthorpe Polytechnic circuit racing at Blyton for the Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club.

In the junior section his result was fifth in a five-lap race, as he continues to collect points nicely in only his first season of racing.

Fellow club member Jordan Skelly has also been racing in the senior events at Blyton.

On Sunday Trevor Halstead was in Yorkshire riding the Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club 12 -hour championship.

He covered 175.55 miles, winning the 12-hour Championship Trophy.

It was a hard race and the wind made riding conditions very difficult for Trevor, having completed a 24 hour race the weekend before.

The fastest rider on the day was Nik Bowdler of Team Pedal Revolution.co.uk and his distance was 301.71 miles.

Fellow club member Ray Newton was helping out at the event as an official.

The Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club ride was a 15 mile pleasant ride around Laughton Woods.

The ride was led by Gainsborough Aegir training instructor/ CTC ride leader Daniel Nicholson and enjoyed by Colin Smith, Pete Hanks, Dave Chaffey and 15-year-old Joe Smith.

The cyclists headed away from Roseway, using Gainsborough’s Cycling Map, going out of town to Morton, using the National Byway the ride went through Laughton Woods and along the Riverside.

Arriving back in Gainsborough the ride made its way into Gainsborough along the riverside cycle path.

Next week’s events are: Sunday August 5th, leisure ride to Metheringham.
