Putting a Dent in the competition

DUKERIES Academy trampolinist Giorgia Dent couldn’t have wished for a better day at a recent national competition in Hull.

The 12-year-old was battling for a place in the 2012 British Championships and didn’t disappoint, achieving her personal best score and qualifying for the ‘big one’ at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena in July.

Dad Jason told the Guardian his daughter was ‘over the moon’.

He added: “She’s qualified for the second year running and is now working on some new routines that will hopefully impress at the British Championships.”

Dukeries coach Naomi Johnson was delighted with her young charge’s exploits.

“At only 12 years of age, Giorgia is a great ambassador for the club, she has one of the highest difficulty routines in her age group at the level she is at and has been chosen to compete for the East Midlands regional squad which in itself is a fantastic achievement.”

“I am very proud of her and all our other club members, there is some real talent in both gymnastics and trampolining coming through.”

“We have a lot of support from voluntary coaches and committee members and I would like to thank everyone that offers support to the club.’
