Quartet return home with medal bonanza

Four members of Skegness and Winthorpe Judo Clubs attended a team competition in Kirkby in Ashfield on Saturday - returning home with medals.

Teams being made up of attendees on the day and for three juniors this was their first experience of competitive judo, each performing extremely well.

Bradley Meese won one of his three contests and came away with a bronze medal.

His sister Nicole Meese won bronze and also one one of her three contests.

Bragging rights in this family, this time, however, were reserved for older brother Jake, who won all three of his contests, including beating his brother, to take the gold medal.

Senior competitor Dean Harmston produced an outstanding performance on the day, winning two of his three contests, all against experienced dan grades (black belts) including a spectacular win using a Harai-Goshi throw to score ippon. Dean also came away with the gold medal.
