The team of Jenny McGarel, Rachel Atkinson, Rachel Gedney and Mary Smura feared the worst as the team journeyed up north.

However, a very strong performance from captain Jenny, alongside Rachel, during the first round put the team in a bargaining position.

Winning the first set tie-break, the pair continued to play very well to win the rubber and leave the score at 1-1 after the first round.

St James’ first pair proved too strong for both Boston pairs and the final score was 1-3.

The Boston mini tennis teams are very much back in action and both Boston Red A and B had a match on Saturday afternoon.

Boston Red A - James Gedney, Will Pettitt, Poppy Gibbons and Jacob Felipes - had a clear win over Sleaford and did not drop a rubber.

Boston B’s Jessica Dolata, Yasmin Everitt, Matilda Clark and Ben Rudkin had a tougher time against Deeping and missed out 3-15, but put in some good performances against a strong team.
