The annual event, organised by Retford Athletic and Running Club, attracts around 500 entrants from the local area and surrounding counties.

The half marathon is a regular fixture for seasoned runners, and is also popular amongst those wanting to get in shape to take part in, and to complete their first half marathon.

This year the start and finish for the half marathon will be at Retford Oaks Academy on Babworth Road.

The two mile fun run will also be held within the grounds of Retford Oaks.

David Corbett, race director, said: “We’re delighted to have secured Retford Oaks as the base for the 2014 event.”

“The venue offers excellent facilities for runners and their supporters and we’re able to hold the entire fun run on-site in a safe and secure traffic free environment.”

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice are the event’s main charity partner and will receive a donation from each entry fee.

With over 250 runners already signed up, the 2014 event is set to be the biggest yet and the organisers are encouraging runners to sign up soon.
