Retford: Millie reaches new heights as Second Dan

Martial arts star Millie Morgan has just obtained her taekwondo Second Dan at Black Belt– aged just 11.

A students at the Lynx Black Belt Leadership Academy in Retford, Millicent achieved her First Dan last year under the guidance and supervision of Master Andrew Blinston, Sixth Dan.

And after a day-long graduation under Master Blinston, Millie andtwo other juniors were presented with their Second Dans.

She has won many awards at the academy including The Lynx Shinning Star and four medals for outstanding effort in class.

She won bronze for individual pattern, silver for free style patterns and gold for break board in the inter club competition in June.

Also, in the Taekwondomudo National Championships in March, she brought home a gold medal with fellow students Rhio Blinston and Hannah Downes for team patterns.

This was also Millie’s first ever national championships.

Millie has also been selected to train in Korean with Master Blinston and Grandmaster Kim Yong Ho Ninth Dan at the martial arts educational centre.

Next year, she will be competing at national level with the Lynx Black Belt Team.

Millie has also been nominated for young sports person of the year at the upcoming Bassetlaw Sports Awards.

She says her aim in martial arts is to become an instructor and to be the best.
