Road narrow gap at the top

Leaders Eastenders dropped two points while nearest rivals Carlton Road picked up a maximum-points haul to close the gap to just three points.

Eastenders’ Matt Whyers, Paul Flatters and Richard Vinter secured the aggregate points with a win of 20-10, but Invaders’ Nathan Dunnington, Sandra Tebbs and Scott Whyers replied for a rink win.

The Road secured all six from their game against Strollers, Geoff Parker winning 20-16 and Les Feary triumphing 25-11.

A40 aren’t exactly playing with consistency but they claimed the aggregate points against Royal Mail.

The Mail’s Jo Sharp, Steve Todd and Jill Smith were never behind against A40’s Ray Reeson, Janet Vinter and Arnold Bennett (13-15) but replying for A40, Jean Cammack won 18-11.

IBC and Punchbowlers tied their game. IBC’s Richard White won 22-17 but Iris Reeson, Bunny Reeson and Andrew Limb replied 15-20.

Jolly Farmers dropped two points to bottom team Norprint. Doing well for the Norprint team were Barbara Kenny, Geoff Taylor and Jeff Nicholson (13-21).

Winning the aggregate points for the Farmers were Stuart Moore, Rita Epton and Sue Hoyles (23-13).

In the T&B Containers Division Two, leaders Red 5 and Feathers, in second, both dropped two points, but the gap at the top remains at three points.

Autos’ Norman Wright, Tom Freeston and Bernard Skelton won 17-18 while, replying for Red 5, Dave Fox secured the additional points with a win of 25-10.

Breakaways skip Derek Butwright won 21-22 but Feathers’ Brian Simpson, Derek Hunn and Brian Sansam won 19-10.

Patriarchs, in third, dropped all six points to a tremendous performance from second-bottom Amateurs.

Pat Weaver, George Phillips and Mick Greet won 21-9 and Grace Bristow, Brian Martin and captain Tony Nixon triumphed 20-14.

The Burtons deafeated Golfers. Jerry Gill, Norman Ablard and David Marshall won 8-23 and replying for the Burtons was skip Dave Bailey (28-9).

Cammacks Division Three leaders Cosmos took the points against an under-strength Traders.

Nomads surprised highflying Shipmates when they secured all six points with an overall win of 36-21 and the Fairways secured five points from their game against the Rileys.

Anthea Hall tied 17-17 and Carol Nundy won 31-5.

Anther team also doing very well was Dynamics, who beat Vikings, Keith Stone’s 14-22 surpassed by Dynamics’ Alan West (22-11).

Central and U3 shared the rinks points, with lower team U3 taking the aggregate points thanks to the trio of Burge, Thorold and Thorold, who won 25-9.
