On a scorching hot evening, players worked hard on fitness levels whilst developing rugby ball handling skills under the watchful eyes of husband and wife coaching team Pete and Sam Olliver.

The ladies enjoyed a good workout but the levels of laughter indicated that it wasn’t all work, there was a lot of camaraderie and good fun evident too.

Vicki Cocks, the team’s manager and ‘mum’ said: “We have a great bunch of ladies here, everyone gets on and we enjoy a good social life, as well as keeping fit and having fun playing rugby. This year we will be fielding a full team for the first time in a few years and we are busy arranging fixtures for this season.

“We could always use more players so if you think you might be interested, either contact me direct or come down on a Wednesday evening at 7pm and join in.”

Tracey ‘Taz’ Walker, the team’s fixtures secretary, added: “We have great relationships with a few other clubs, who some of our players actually turned out for last year, and we are arranging friendly fixtures against them to develop and hone our rugby skills and our team spirit.

“We’re looking forward to playing them, and they are looking forward to helping us develop as a team too. We always have a debrief and a social after the match, wherever we play, and it’s always great fun.”
