The Dinnington ‘All Starrs’ were second in Pool D, winning three of their four outings against Sheffield, Baildon, Stanley Rods and Mosborough A.

Organiser Olly Dixon told the Guardian the day went brilliantly, as Dinnington Rugby Club raised money for Bluebell Wood.

“We got lucky with the weather and it was a fantastic day,” he said. “The feedback I got was that the rugby was excellent, and we chose Dinnington because they had the right number of pitches and the facilities are great up there.”

A cake stall and barbecue raised money for the local charity, while the bar was open all day.

The sevens finals take place at Thornensians RUFC, Thorne, on Saturday, with games starting at 11am.
