Frecklington frustrated after Trinity lose at Leamington

Dave Frecklington cited a lack of quality in the final third as a major problem after Gainsborough Trinity lost 3-0 at Leamington on Tuesday night.

It was Trinity's second league defeat in a row after they lost another six-pointer against Nuneaton on January 13, and comes ahead of the visit of Alfreton Town on Saturday.

Frecklington said: "I don't think we started the game well enough and in the end we've come up short again, although it wasn't for the lack of effort.

"It's happening far too often. We had a very experienced team out today in certain areas. The first goal came from us not being set up right from a short throw in, so it was a really poor goal and straight away we're chasing the game.

"Then the second goal is a freak goal straight after half-time - I can't remember seeing a goal go in like that in my whole career. Then the third one at the end was a ricochet from a clearance from the goalkeeper who had struggled with his kicking all night.

"I felt we gave it a go, but we failed to put the ball in the box enough. Every time we had good opportunities to do so we disappointed. We didn't put them under enough pressure so something needs to change very quickly."
