They claimed a six-try, bonus-point victory to retain top spot; the highlight being a hat-trick from winger Jaron Cowern.

For the spectators, pleased to see rugby being played due to the recent weather, it was a disjointed, stop-start performance.

The team welcomed back row Peter Manning to the squad, who would be brought off the bench earlier than anticipated in the first half for his debut, when Luke Fowler had to retire injured.

After 10 minutes, two early penalties by full back Matt Bray moved Boston into a 6-0 lead before second row George Sharp finished off a fluent handling move in the backs to score in the corner.

The conversion by Bray, extending the score to 13-3.

At this stage of the contest Boston would receive two yellow cards, reducing them to 13 players, when first Manning and then captain Matthew Dean were sin binned

The last eight minutes saw Boston score two further tries, both from winger Cowern - the first a classic jinking, mazy run from inside his own half, outpacing all defenders.

The second the result from a deft kick into space by Bray, which winger John Hummel carried on with a kick and chase for Cowern to collect and score.

Both tries were converted by Bray to enter half time 27-3 ahead, which flattered the home side.

In the second half Boston would score three further ties through Dean, Cowern and Bray, all converted by Bray.
