Sixth form charity rugby match


The first ever combined old boys rugby match saw more than 150 spectators and more than £300 raised for the CLIC Sargent cancer charity.
The current combined 1st XV team of St George’s Academy and Carre’s Grammar School won 12-10 against a Combined Old Boys side of students who left in 2014/5, in a closely fought match.

Vice principal of St George’s Academy said: “It was a pleasure to watch the boys play in the spirit of the game which will now be an annual event. It was a great night.”
He thanked the Notts, Lincs and Derbys League for supplying the trophy and referee, Matt Grinney for organising the Old Boys and IMPACT Rugby for the Old Boys’ shirts.
