Runners get muddy at event

Skegness & District Running Club saw 11 runners head to North Rauceby for what turned out to be a very muddy cross country event.

The heavy rain in the days leading up to the race put some of the track under water, but this did not dampen the spirits at all.

Some great times were achieved in the conditions and extra congratulations went to Keith Ranson, Lynsey Ballans, Samantha Creek and Sarah Burton who were all running this distance off road for the first time.

First home for the club was Andy Shelton, with Martin Tebbs just 30 seconds behind him.

Only another half minute behind was the club’s third-placed runner home, John Burton.

The club had three runners in the top 30 finishers.

Skegness & District Running Club cater for runners from Skegness to south of Boston and across to Coningsby - and everywhere in­between.

Training nights are Tuesdays (Nelson Butt, Spilsby, 6.30pm), Thursdays (Peter Paine Sports Centre, Boston, 7pm) and Fridays (Crown Hotel, Skegness, 6.30pm).
